It is quite a usual thing in Bollywood that often two films have a common release date and so they fall into a clash. But this time the two big movies are more concerned about the theaters rather than the release date. The first movie is Karan Johar’s We Are Family starring Kajol, Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Rampal and other. This movie will release today, that is, on 2nd September. The next movie is Dabangg which stars Salman Khan, Sonakshi Sinha and others. Dabangg will be released the very next week after the release of We Are Family.
Now for the screening of movies both the production houses are in the process of arranging single theaters. Due to this both Dharma Productions and Arbaaz Khan Productions are going through a lot of problems. A two-week commitment is demanded by Dharma Productions from a few theatres for We Are Family(starring Kajol, Kareena Kapoor and Arjun rampal). But unfortunately, all the single screen theaters do not want to commit this because they foresee much opportunity in Salman Khan’s Dabangg, which will be released on the second week.
An industry source told that the makers of We Are Family wanted a two weeks commitment from single theatres and that was not acceptable by most of them. These theaters have also intimated Karan Johar and UTV Motion Pictures about their decision. Manoj Desai, owner of Maratha Mandir, said that why Karan Johar is so adamant about two weeks if he is confident about We Are Family. Santosh Bhatia, exhibitor of Premiere in Dadar and Premier Gold in Dongri said that he would not like to leave any chance on Dabangg. He said that he would have easily accepted Karna’s offer of two week’s commitment if Dabangg would not be releasing the following week.
The advertisement world does not seem to believe in the maxim that the hit pair of the silver screen needs to be drafted in pair for the endorsement of a product. So, the hit pair of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, one of the most romantic pairs of all times, would now be facing each other in endorsing a product. Shah Rukh Khan would be the new brand ambassador for Colgate Dental products, while Kajol is the brand ambassador for Anchor White.
It would be interesting face-off between the fans of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol as they still have legendary fan following and when they would be endorsing dental products of the rival brands, it would indeed be an interesting battle that would pan out.
The most successful pairing is that of Bipasha Basu and John Abraham, but it has also been now broken up, as in the new series of Reebok advertisements it is the Indian captain, MS Dhoni who now features along with Bipasha Basu. Other pair that features on a regular basis in new campaigns is that of Ajay Devgan and Kajol, though it has not been able to enlarge its ambit, as the pairing has been used only to promote Whirlpool brand of white goods.
Interestingly, enough a pairing that has been a hit was that between Aamir Khan and Darsheel after TAARE ZAMEEN PAR, and it is one of the rare advertisements where Aamir Khan appears in a pair with Darsheel, a male-male combination. Salman Khan has also appeared for the first time in a pair along with brother Sohail Khan in Chloromint advertisement.
One only wonders whether somebody from the advertisement fraternity would do some out of the box thinking…well can’t say!
Written and directed by Sohail Khan Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya is a 1998 Indian Bollywood romantic comedy film. The film stars featured Salman Khan and Arbaaz Khan alongside Kajol and Dharmendra in pivotal roles.
Kajol played the character of Muskaan who is an eligible and attractive young lady. Slowly the film revolves around to the scene when Muskaan falls in love with Suraj Khanna (Salman Khan), she introduces him to her family, and Vishaal puts him to the test, and even Suraj is rejected.
Vishaal wants Muskaan to marry the brother of Thakur Vijay Singh (Nirmal Pandey), not knowing that Thakur Vijay Singh is doing this to merely extract vengeance against the Thakur family for a previous humiliation his own family received.
The rest of the film concentrates on how Suraj wins Muskaan despite big brother’s opposition and also how Ujaala melts the angry Vishal’s heart. There is a sub-plot concerning property ownership of the farm but thankfully it isn’t dwelled upon.
The film deserved to be a big hit. The great amount of effort put in by the entire cast and crew was really commendable. The actress is currently working for Karan Johar‘s new venture My Name Is Khan and after a long time the actress will sharing the big screen with all time favourite Shahrukh Khan.
The latest buzz says that Karan Johar is in the mood to bring together his magnum opus Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and the hit Hollywood series High School Musical to recreate a brilliant new film that will be a fusion of hot stars, cool music and a lot of dance.
What is more interesting is that Karan Johar seems to have realised that despite his evergreen appeal, Shah Rukh Khan will look somewhat odd as a high-school student, and as a result, KJo has approached Ranbir Kapoor, one of the front-runners for the next Bollywood icon.
Karan Johar has decided to bring in Imran in a role similar to the one played by Salman Khan in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. And it seems, both actors have agreed to do the film.
Since there has been ample tension in the Deepika-Ranbir relationship, and Sonam may just be one of the reasons, this real life politics may affect the film adversely.
Says Ajay “I’m directing a film in mid-2009. There is no role for Kajol in my next film. It’s as simple as that. The leading lady’s role in that film doesn’t suit her.”
This time as a director, Ajay Devgan wants to return to his roots. “I haven’t done a full-on action film for ages. My next film as a director would be an actioner with an undercurrent of dark humour. Even Milan Luthria’s film that I’m acting in, is an actioner. I believe audiences want to see me back in action. In fact when I made my entry balanced between two speeding cars in Golmaal Returns people immediately remembered my entry in my first film Phool Aur Kante. The action in my directorial venture will be something unusual.” says Ajay Devgan.
He clearly feels too much has been made out of his bonding with Salman Khan during the shooting of Vipul Shah‘s London Dreams. “We hit it off well. We always have ever since we did Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam together.
Ajay plays a musician in London Dreams. And it required him to alter his looks. “I needed to look cooler. So I cut my hair, grew a stubble. Salman and I play very close friends, so naturally we had to have a certain amount of bonding between us. But that’s it. What I really enjoyed was shooting in London at one go. Vipul is one of the most organized filmmakers I’ve worked with. And I didn’t get much of a chance to miss my family. Kajol and my daughter came for a visit.”
There is no match for Kajol Devgan. Kajol is indeed matchless. She is evergreen. Kajol is married and semi-retired. Kajol does films which are few and far between. She does it on her own choice and convenience.
The actress demands her price and she gets it. At one time roles were written keeping her solely in mind. Directors like Karan Johar wait for her dates.
Just like Hrithik Roshan and Salman Khan, Kajol never courts the media. It is always the other way round. Kajol’s work speaks for her as much as her eyes and her expressions. It is a delight to watch her. She lights up the screen. Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha (1998) was a real success for her.
And in all the three movies she is acting as the heroine. There is 3 Idiots opposite Aamir Khan and an untitled Siddharth Malhotra project too. Decades will pass. Actresses may come and go. But Kajol will remain forever. She is truly the one and the only.
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, the debut film of Karan Johar will complete 10 years since its release in 1999. To mark the 10th Anniversary of the block-buster of its time Karan Johar has made an animated version of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai titled Kootchie Kootchie Hota Hain which is almost ready and is being scheduled to release soon to commemorate 10 years of the film.
This mega-budget animated venture is a joint production between Karan Johar’s banner Dharma Productions along with Los Angeles-based Prana Studios and the Mumbai based 3D Animation Studios.
It will be featuring the latest innovations in computer graphics matching International Cinema standards. However, its animated version is not being directed by Karan but his Dostana-fame director Tarun Mansukhani.
Unfortunately, Salman Khan who featured in a Filmfare Award winning performance in the film wouldn’t dub for his animated character since him and SRK have had a fall out. But now, we have learnt that his character will be dubbed by Ritesh Deshmukh.
Kajol has played a wide variety of roles varying from the lovely bride in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai to the violent villain in the film Gupt. She doesn’t consider a perfect hair-do and the oh-so-sophisticated attire to be beautiful. She’s so totally unconventional.
